This is a Presidential program initiated by Dr Venkataram Mysore (President, IADVL) and funded by an educational grant from MSD. Dr G Nandakumar, Convener, IADVL SIG Dermatopathology, is responsible for the scientific part. This lecture has been delivered by Dr. Mithilesh Chandra, MD, FIC Path, Senior Consultant Histopathologist. Dr. Mithilesh Chandra served  National Institute of Pathology-ICMR, Safdarjang Hospital as Deputy Director and before starting her lab specializing in histopathology and oncopathology.

Dr. Chandra was awarded Common Wealth Fellowship and has published more than 80 research papers in International and National journals and has delivered many lectures in National Conferences and conducted many seminars and symposia. Dr. Chandra has been a front-runner in the adoption of new advanced technologies and is one of the first pathologists in India to start Digital Pathology. INFECTIOUS DISEASES

About the speaker: This lecture on  infectious diseases  has been delivered by Dr. V. Ramesh, Professor and Head ,Department of Dermatology & STD, Safdarjang Hospital and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, New Delhi. Dr. V. Ramesh formerly was President of IADVL and is currently President of Dermatopathology Society of India and also Editor of Journal of IADVL.

Dr.Ramesh is recipient of two awards from National IADVL and Delhi Chapter of   IADVL for having contributed excellent service to the specialty. He has published over 150 articles mainly on granulomatous skin disorders, general dermatology articles, STI and dermatopathology. In the present lecture Dr. Ramesh is elaborating on granulomas seen in infectios diseases. Granulomas comprise the bulk of cases that are sent for histopathology, both for diagnostic and research purposes. The commonest granulomatous disorders are leprosy followed by tuberculosis and fungal conditions. Besides this there are other rare granulomas that continue to baffle both clinicians and pathologists, often needing clinical correlation and discussion. Here the accuracy of obtaining a good history and clinical description is necessary.

About the speaker:  Dr. Asha Kubba is a Consultant Dermatopathologist practicing in Delhi and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Dermatopathology, Boston University School of Medicine, Boston ,USA .
